Why We clean with Baking Soda?

Throughout our cleaning videos, you will see us cleaning a lot of things with plain old baking soda. Baking sodais actually a type of salt (sodium bicarbonate, to be exact) that most people already have in their kitchen cabinets. And it's been used as a cleaner for a pretty long time. Baking soda can be used as a gentle abrasive to help you scrub away dirt and get rid of tough stains and grime on certain surfaces. And it's so much better for your health than those toxic scrubbing cleaners. It'sjust an excellent non-toxic cleaner to use as you're cleaning the house.

 Baking soda cleans steel, chrome, glass, enamel, walls, ceramic, and even plastic. Not only is it a great cleaner, but italso freshensup the air by absorbing strong odors. And it doesn't just cover up the smell likemost air fresheners do; it neutralizes the odor and removes the smell. That's why people put boxes of baking soda in the refrigerator. 

So, if you have a box of baking in your house, there area million different things you can do with it to help you clean. Here are 10 things you can use baking soda to clean.

Use it in the refrigerator— to clean, create a paste out of baking soda, Castille soap, and water, and then use it with a sponge or microfiber towel to clean your refrigerator. To deodorize, just put an open box of baking soda in your fridge.

Kitchen sink—Spray the sink with Castille soap and water and then sprinkle baking soda in the sink's basin. Then give it a good scrub usinga sponge with a scouring pad or a scrub brush. 

 Use it on your carpet—Sometimes, carpets have smells and can cause an entire room to have a certain stench. To deodorize the carpet, sprinkle the entire surface with baking soda, let it sit on your carpet for 30 minutes, and then vacuum.

Use it to clean your oven—If you don't have a self-leaning oven, you can create a paste with baking soda, Castille soap, and water. Apply the paste to the oven. Let it sit for about 30 minutes, and then use a sponge with a scouring pad to scrub it clean.

Unclog and deodorize stinky drains—If your sink drains slowly or has a funky smell, try baking soda. Simply pour one cup of baking soda down the drain and let it sit for about an hour.Then heat two cups of vinegar. Pour the vinegar down the drain and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Lastly, flush the drain with hot water. This will remove the smell and may clear a slow drain.

Grout—Baking soda is great for cleaning grout. Simply sprinkle baking soda on the grout and a little hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, use a brush and scrub the dirt away.

Stainless steel—Baking soda works great to shine up your stainless steel items. Whether it's your sink, or your stainless steel pots and pans, you can just sprinkle baking soda,add Castille soap or dish soap anduse a sponge with a scouring pad and scrub away.

Scrub scuff marks on walls—Baking soda is a gentle yet abrasive compound that is great for scrubbing away scuff marks on your wall. Simply dip your cloth into the baking soda, add a little water and scrub away. It can remove scuff marks, crayon marks, and all kinds of marks on the wall.

Toilet bowl— Baking soda is excellent for cleaning the toilet bowl while deodorizing it. After spraying your toilet bowl with your cleaner, sprinkle baking soda in your toilet, then scrub it clean.

Bathtub—Spray the tub with Castille soap mix with water and then generously sprinkle baking soda in the tub. Give it a good scrub using a sponge with a scouring pad, and watch the soap scum melt away.
